SOUTHAMPTON, ON- Two-time Sunset Speedway feature winner ‘Livewire’ Nick Goetz will return to action tonight with the rest of the NASCAR Late Model division. After a pair of 6th place finishes in competition last Saturday, the up-and-comer is hungry for a return trip to victory lane.
“I feel as though our package is at the point now where we can roll through the gates on any given Saturday and feel like we have a shot at the win,” says Goetz. “This field is tough, man. You aren’t going to get an inch out here without having to work for it. There isn’t a single driver in this pit area that’s going to pull over and let you go”
‘Livewire’ is confident entering this evening’s action, especially after tallying a runner-up effort at Sauble Speedway’s ‘Dash for Cash’ on Wednesday night. For Goetz, it’s all part of seeking out the best competition possible.
“I want to race against the very best there is,” notes the NG Motorsports representative. “As far as I’m concerned, that’s the only way my program is ever going to improve. I spent a lot of nights coming out here and getting absolutely smoked before I was good enough to run at the front with these guys. And, honestly, I would do it all again. Every second of that was worth it. It was a valuable lesson”
Goetz has shown a knack for time trials this season, earning a trio of ‘Fast Time’ awards after single car qualifying.
“Our time trial efforts have been really good,” says the fifth-year competition. “I feel like that’s been our ace in the hole all season. So, tonight, we’re going to come out and try to take down another Fast Time award”
“The guys at the front of this field are incredibly tough to beat,” continues Goetz. “And if you have to use your car up driving through the field to get to them, you don’t stand much of a chance. Starting position is so important in these races – which is why we have every intention of earning the pole tonight and making life a little bit easier on ourselves.”
