PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO (May 6, 2018) Humberstone Speedway kicked off the 2018 season on Sunday, May 6 with the running of the Dawn of Destruction presented by ATTAR Metals.
Rob Goulding took home the $3,000 top prize after the 75 lap Enduro. Steven Moore outraced John Cote to win the Figure 8 event. Billy Bleich Jr won the Auto-Cross event over John Cote and Dave Murre. Tyler James won the Backwards Race over Devon Germain. Rodney Rutherford won the Demolition Derby.
Fans are encouraged to keep their ticket stub from the Dawn of Destruction to receive $1 off general admission for Opening Night 2018! Nearly 30 stock cars took part in a pre-season thunder test session on Saturday, May 5 to get ready for the 59th season opener on Sunday, May 20.
Humberstone’s 59th season of stock car racing will begin on Sunday, May 20 as the Seaway Mall presents the season opener. It will also mark the first race for the newly created North East Late Model Alliance series as well as the inaugural race for the newly created Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Mini Stocks. The Harvey’s of Port Colborne DIRTcar Sportsman, Pro Fabrication RUSH Late Models, JC Auto Thunder Stocks, Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks and the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks will all be on the card. The night will end with fireworks to kick off Victoria Day Weekend! Gates will open at 4:30 pm with racing to begin promptly at 6:30 pm.
