MILTON, ON- After a head-turning victory in Round 1 of the 2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 17th, second-generation star Gary Klutt is prepared for his first career visit to Autodrome Chaudiere for the June 13th running of the ‘Budweiser 300’.
The event, which will serve as Round 2 of the 2015 campaign, will also mark the 100th race in series history – a fact that is not lost on the current series point leader.
“It’s an honour just to be a part of the 100th race,” says Klutt, “starting it as the points leader is something more than I could have ever imagined”
“With that being said, I don’t feel like there’s any additional pressure,” adds Klutt. “The feeling of wanting to win is nothing new for our team. And what the standings show don’t impact how much we expect of ourselves. I want to win at Chaudiere every bit as much as I wanted to win at CTMP”
For Klutt, the trip to Chaudiere will mark just his second career oval start, after competing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series finale at Kawartha Speedway last September.
“I haven’t laid eyes on the track yet, but I know it’s different from anywhere I’ve raced so far,” admits Klutt. “Kawartha was a brand new experience for me because it was my first oval. But, Chaudiere is so much different than Kawartha that this is like having my first oval start all over again”
“Most of my career has been spent jumping in cars and going to tracks that are brand new to me, so we’re just going to try and adapt to the track as quickly as possible,” continues the personable up-and-comer.
“We’ve got an awesome group of guys and I’m confident that we can find some speed and be in the mix when the laps start to count”
And though Chaudiere will be a new experience for the 2015 championship hopeful, Klutt is confident the challenging bullring will play right into his style.
“I love when a track gets racey, and I think that Chaudiere will foster that kind of atmosphere,” beams Klutt. “We just need to remember to be patient and run a clean race. If we can do that, I have complete faith that my team and our equipment are capable of another strong finish.”
