(Halifax, NS, May 20, 2012) – In a CARQUEST 100 at Scotia Speedworld which ran flag-to-flag without a caution, Terence Bay’s Craig Slaunwhite picked up where he left off in 2011 by capturing the first race of the new season. Slaunwhite, who won the season ending Dartmouth Dodge 200 last September, edged his #99 Halifax Glass and Mirror Chevrolet past pole sitter Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) on Lap 52 as the two found themselves surrounded by lapped traffic.

Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) drove the #13 King Freight Lines Ford Fusion to second while Proude and his #29 Atlantic Dodge Dealers Dodge Charger had to settle for third after leading the most laps in the race (51). Completing the top five in the season opening event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour were Mike MacKenzie (Dartmouth) and Mike Stevens (Salisbury, NB).

Proude cleaned house in qualifying, picking up the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials (with a lap of 14.227 seconds) and followed it up with the checkers in the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash For Cash. Stevens (Salisbury, NB), Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) and Steve Halpin (Saint John, NB) each picked up wins in the Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. Proude also picked up King Freight Lines Halfway Award and the Linde Group Most Laps Led Award. Leonard Boutilier (Dutch Settlement) pocketed the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger award after finishing 13th from starting in the 21st position. Frankie Fraser (Shubenacadie, NS) was the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race, besting five other freshmen for a 12th place finish.

The Maritime League of Legends kicked off the show with a 50 lap feature prior to the CARQUEST 100, which saw Bedford’s Justin MacNeill pick up the victory.

The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Lucas Oil 100 on Saturday, June 2nd at Petty International Raceway at 6:00 pm. Advanced tickets for the Lucas Oil 100 are available at Ticket Atlantic outlets (Atlantic Superstores NS& PE only), by phone 902.451.1221 or www.ticketatlantic.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day. Visit www.maritimeprostocktour.com for all event information.
