SASKATOON, SK (July 25, 2018)- Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) drivers were ready for action as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series began it’s annual swing through western Canada on Wednesday with twin 125 lap races at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. With two races in one evening it presents a unique challenge to the team and both Rookie of the Year contender Brett Taylor and Joey McColm each posted impressive outings in race one. Unfortunately race number two wasn’t as positive.

In race number one the CBRT cars lined up beside each other in row six with Taylor in the #46 TCB Trailers Dodge flanking McColm in the #1 CBRT/ENASCAR Ignite Series Dodge. Both drivers moved forward through a fast paced opening race and picked up positions as the race moved on. As the checkered flag fell McColm scored his first best result of the season with an eighth place finish and Taylor claimed tenth spot.

“It felt good to have such a strong car and see Brett also have a good run to start this western swing” said CBRT General Manager McColm. “Great job by everyone working so hard to have us ready to compete during this busy stretch.

Following a break for teams to service and prepare the cars McColm lined up ninth in the #1 CBRT/ENASCAR Ignite Series Dodge and Taylor started 12thin the TCB Trailers Dodge for race number two. Unfortunately that one didn’t go as smoothly.

Early on in the second half of the double header Taylor noticed an issue with his #46 TCB Trailers Dodge that became worse later in the race.

“I had a tire going down” explained Taylor “and the car was a real handful just to hang on”.

Taylor would get collected as part of an incident later in the race, McColm worked his #1 CBRT/ENASCAR Ignite Series Dodge as hard as he could and finished just outside the top ten.

“Things didn’t go as well in the second race unfortunately,” said McColm. “That was a tough break for Brett with the tire going down or he would have had another good finish. I have to say as well that it was an honour for us and the rest of the drivers to carry the names of those members of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team that we lost earlier this year on our racecars and support the community”.
