SASKATOON, SK (July 25, 2018)- Wednesday night Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team opened up the annual western swing for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
While Ranger was hoping to back up his recent back to back victories in the twin 125 lap races his night wound up very differently as he struggled with the handling of his car.
During the afternoon practice session Ranger felt comfortable in his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and was optimistic for positive results during the races. The two-time winner this season would qualify in the fifth position.
Shortly after the green flag waved on the first of the two races Ranger was struggling with his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge.
“We lost the power steering in the car,” he explained later. “And the car for some reason, it was pushing very badly. It was completely different from the practice,” he added.
Even a pit stop for handling adjustments would be of little help to Ranger as he continued to battle and navigate the #27 Mopar Parts Doge across the finish line with a 12th place finish.
The team made the repairs to the power steering along with other adjustments to the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge to try and improve the handling for the second 125-lap race. Unfortunately the car’s performance just wasn’t up to par though Ranger would fight for a top-ten finish in race number two.
“I don’t know,” said a disappointed Ranger afterwards. “Something is not right, we’re not sure if something is broken but the Mopar team will get to work and we should be better for the next race in Edmonton” he stated.
Andrew Ranger sits fourth in the overall championship standings after six events.
The #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team returns to action Saturday night, July 28that Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
The races from Saskatoon can be seen on TSN Saturday August 4that 1:30PM ET.
