@Formula_1200 • BURLINGTON, ON – In a deal completed shortly before the start of the 2014 racing season, Millers Oils was announced as the title sponsor for the CASC-sanctioned, Ontario-based Formula 1200 series. Former F1200 competitor Bill Comat is the Eastern Canadian distributor for Millers Oils, and it was his past racing connections that brought the two parties together.

“Bill and I actually got together at the Canadian Motorsports Expo,” noted the Formula 1200 Driver’s Association’s (FTDA) Dave Aird. “He was looking for a venue to promote his Millers Oils products, and that got us talking. We met a couple of times at my place and at Tim Hortons, and we came up with a package that works to the benefit of our series and Millers Oils.”

Based in England, Millers Oils has, for over 125 years, developed and produced advanced engine and transmission oils, fuel additives and lubricants for street, track, and vintage vehicles.

“Millers Oils offer a wide variety of products, and they manufacture modern nano-technology lubricants marketed under the name NANODRIVE, as well as specialized oils designed for vintage motors and transmissions,” said Comat. “For the Formula 1200 Volkswagen motors, the Millers Oils 0/30-weight is ideally suited to their requirements.”

For the 2014 season, each FTDA member in the Millers Oils Formula 1200 Championship will receive a five-litre jug of motor oil as an introductory offering, and Millers Oils will also be part of the year-end rewards program.

“In Eastern Canada, Millers Oils is primarily aiming for the competitive and vintage markets,” continued Comat. “Millers Oils is a relatively small company but they have been recognized in a very positive manner by teams racing in Formula One, the British Touring Car and World Rally Championships and IndyCar.

“In the Ontario market, I believe the Formula 1200 regional racing division is the ideal place to introduce and promote the Millers Oils product lines and I hope that the drivers will find our lubricants work well in their efforts.”

Concluded Aird, “The nano-technology in the lightweight Millers Oils we’ll be using help our motor run that little bit ‘free-er.’ And every bit of an advantage we can squeak out of the motors makes a difference, especially with the F1200 fields so evenly matched. When we can show that Millers Oils work well in our cars, everyone will know that they will work in theirs, too.”

Aird added, “This new arrangement is a great cross-promotion for both our F1200 series and Millers Oils, and we’re grateful to have them on board with us this year.”

ABOUT MILLERS OILS: Founded in 1887 in England, Millers Oils products are now sold in 42 countries, worldwide. Their continuing efforts in research, development and production of varied automotive lubricants, has earned them the ‘Technology and Innovations Award’ from the prestigious Motorsport Industry Association, as well as the ‘Queen’s Award for Enterprise’ in 2012. Their products have been utilized in many professional motorsport disciplines around the world, and have recently been introduced to the Canadian competitive market through an Eastern and a Western regional distributor. For the Eastern Canadian market, Millers Oils can be purchased through Comat Motorsports in Burlington, ON, (905) 635-9477 or by e-mail, bill@comatmotorsports.com.

ABOUT THE FTDA FORMULA 1200 SERIES: A relatively low-cost, yet incredibly competitive, open wheeled road racing division, the Formula 1200 series is recognized as the next logical step for graduating kart racers. With construction based around standard Volkswagen suspension components and powertrain, these single-seaters, with their limited horsepower, provide an excellent training platform for up-and-coming race drivers. In 2014, this Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs (CASC)-sanctioned series will compete in a total of eighteen (18), 20-minute races spread out over six racing weekends, with events run on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Calabogie Motorsports Park. For further details about the Millers Oils Formula 1200 Championship, visit the CASC website, www.casc.on.ca.
