CHESLEY, ON- Second-generation star Josh Stade will enter Week 3 of the Sauble Speedway season with a pair of top-5s in his pocket, and a motivated team ready for their first victory since 2012.
“We’ve had an awesome start to 2014”, said Stade. “The car hasn’t been perfect, but we’ve been able to work through it and salvage some great finishes, which is what’s important”
“Our team has been fortunate enough to work closely with Brian MacDonald, and he’s been helping us work out some new combinations”, continued Stade. “We’re more focused than ever on putting this hotrod in victory lane”
‘Prime Time’ has been forthcoming about his eagerness to break into the ‘W’ column this season, after his MEI Paving No. 17 was shut out in an otherwise successful 2013 campaign.
“Last year was great, in terms of points racing”, explained Stade. “We were able to knock down consistent performances all year long, and finished top-5 in the year-end standings. This year, we agreed as a team that we were going to shift our focus to racing for wins. We’re approaching this season one night at a time, and we’ll let the points work themselves out”
When asked about his father Duane – a former Sauble champion in his own right – it’s clear the 21-year old is intent on following in his footsteps.
“That man is my hero”, said Stade matter-of-factly. “Everything he does, he puts 100% into it. He’s bred that into my sister and I since we were little kids. Wether it’s running the family business or working on the racecar, if he’s going to do something, you know he’s going to be all-in”
“He was one of the best around when he was racing. I want nothing more than to live up to that. Between him and Brian [MacDonald], I couldn’t ask for better guidance. I know we’ll figure this car out. We’ll just keep up the hard work and get after it”
Josh returns to action this Saturday, June 21st in a 35-lap Limited Late Model contest at Sauble Speedway. Event details can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca
