BARRIE, ON- NASCAR Canadian Tire Series star Mark Dilley will compete June 21st at Sauble Speedway with hopes of ending Jason Parker’s 2-race winning streak in the headline Limited Late Model division.
“Jason’s been on a bit of a tear up at Sauble, so it’s going to be a lot of fun to head up there on a Sunset off night and see if we can’t give him a run for his money”, said Dilley when reached for comment.
Fresh off of a runner-up finish in the most recent NCATS event at Autodrome Chaudiere, Dilley will pilot Parker’s backup car, in search of his first career Limited Late Model win.
“Mark and I have been friends for a while now, and he always show us the utmost hospitality when we’re down at Sunset, so we figured we’d repay the favour and have him up to Sauble”, said Parker.
“Just because he’s in our spare car, doesn’t mean either one of us is going to take it easy on the other”, continued Parker with a smile. “We’re going to try and keep things interesting. We don’t get to race together too often, but when we do we always make sure not to give one another too much room”
For Dilley, it’s a chance to return to his roots as a weekly competitor, after spending the bulk of his time promoting Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, ON.
“I love competing. I’ll race anything”, smiled Dilley. “It’s awesome that I get a chance to strap-in with some of the guys that I get to see down at Sunset every season. I appreciate Parker and the JP Motorsports guys giving me the opportunity”
“I’ll do my best to bring it back in the same condition I took it out in”, added Dilley with a wink.
The June 21st event will feature a 35-lap main event for the Limited Late Model division, pitting Dilley and Parker against the elite of the Sauble division, including ‘Marvellous’ Marvin Freiburger, ‘Prime Time’ Josh Stade and Tom Gibbons.
Gate times and ticket prices for the event can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca
Both Dilley and Parker’s efforts will be supported by Prestige General Contractors, Saugeen Shores Transmission, MacDonnell Fuels, BAXI / Marathon Industries, Keeprite, Candue Homes, Ron Gibbons Construction and Crabby Joe’s of Port Elgin/Hanover.
