SASKATOON, SK, (July 25, 2019)- Sun Peaks, BC racer Jason White participated in his first NASCAR Pinty’s Series race in July of 2007. This past Wednesday at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, White raced in the double header event of twin 125-lap races and it was when he took the green flag for race two in the #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge that he marked his 100th series start.
Participating in 100 events in any series is a significant accomplishment. To do so in the Canada’s only national stock car touring series is even more special.
“This is something that I was focused on and a goal I really wanted to accomplish” said White. “To be the first driver from the west to run that many races, it’s very special.
White’s #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge was prepared by Canada’s Best Racing Team with veteran racer Larry Jackson serving as Crew Chief.
“Getting to work with Larry and this group and being so competitive has just made this accomplishment all the more enjoyable. “These are the best cars I’ve had in my Pinty’s career” said White. And Larry (Jackson) and I clicked so well, it’s just been so much fun”.
Reaching the century mark as he raced his #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge in Saskatoon didn’t produce the kind of results White would have liked, but it took nothing away from the significance of the event.
“We weren’t as strong as we have been this year” said White. “Sure, it would have been nice to run a bit higher in the field, but when I got turned around in race one, I think I did a pretty good smoke show with the tires to keep the car off the wall” he joked.
While on track success is of course important to White, he’s especially thankful to have participated in 100 NASCAR Pinty’s Series races because of the people involved.
“Rob Zimmer and the Zimmer Group have been with me from the beginning, he’s a great friend. All the drivers, teams, officials in the series, I want to thank them all so much for their friendship over the years. I’m glad I got to share this with my wife Melissa and my kids here tonight, it’s an evening I won’t forget”.
Following the conclusion of the races, NASCAR Pinty’s Series Director Cherie Putnam presented White with a checkered flag signed by all the drivers to commemorate his 100thseries start.
Jason White will be back in action later this summer as he races in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the weekend of August 24th& 25th.
