@bos_Speedway •Brockville, ON (June 28, 2016)- Events like Daytona and Indianapolis get the national television exposure, but weekly short track racing is the sport’s most exciting brand. Even though the year’s opening night was delayed a week by weather, the 2016 season at Brockville Ontario Speedway has been one of the most competitive in the track’s recent history.

In the headline DIRTcar 358 Modified division Danny O’Brien is the only repeat feature event winner, while in the Sportsman Modifieds only Dylan Evoy has logged 3 trips to victory lane. Third generation racer and Wednesday night go kart graduate Jarrett Herbison has claimed a trio of Rookie Sportsman wins, while Bob Ray has scored a pair of Mini Stock main event checkered flags. Track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says seeing such a high level of parity – including first time Brockville Modified wins by John Mulder and Jordan McCreadie – is a great way to start the season.

“With preparation and the right amount of racing luck, there’s no telling who might take the win on any given Saturday night,” said Kirkland. “The real winners are the fans. Everyone who comes through our admission gates has a favourite driver and with this much equality in all of our classes, they’re all getting something to cheer for when the green flag flies.”

Kirkland also points out that the driver standings are extremely tight. The top 5 in the Small Block Modifieds is about 80 markers apart, while there is only about 50 points between the top 5 Sportsman teams. The Street Stock top 5 shows about 40 spots apart. That shows the potential for some solid runs as the second half of the season rolls on.

The 2016 season at Brockville Ontario Speedway reaches its unofficial halfway point – Saturday, July 2nd – when 103.7 BOB-FM and Coca-Cola present the Mid-Season Championship event. Race action includes DIRTcar 358 Mods, Sportsman Modifieds, Rookie Sportsman, Street Stocks, a 25 lap Mini Stock ‘A’ and Outlaw Vintage Mods.

There are a number of special events still to come at the popular 3/8th mile oval on Temperance Lake Road, north of Brockville. The Patriot Sprint Tour checks in with events July 16th and August 20th, while the final stop for the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet triple crown is Saturday, August 6th. The action packed 2016 schedule at The BOS concludes with the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals, October 14th and 15th.
