BOWMANVILLE, ON- Grand Am Series ace turned Late Model champion Matt Pritiko turned heads in his third career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 appearance on August 31st. Pritiko rebounded from a top-25 qualifying effort to race just outside of the top-10 for the entirety of Pinty’s presents The Clarington 200.
The London, ON-based driver appeared strong through the second-half of the event and was en route to a top-10 finish when his motor expired on lap 48 of 51.
“I felt a lot more comfortable today than I have in my last two NCATS races”, offered Pritiko post-race. “Obviously we would have absolutely loved to have brought home a top-10, but the way this car was able to drive through the field is an encouragement”
“I knew as soon as I pulled off the track in qualifying that I didn’t get the results I was looking for”, continued Pritiko. “This team is the best. They knew exactly what we needed to change, and they improved this car exponentially for race time. [Crew Chief] Jim Ireland is one of the best in the business, it’s an absolute pleasure to work with him”
Pritiko was quick to explain post-race that, while disappointing, the engine failure does little to dampen the team’s spirits looking ahead to 2015.
“We’re definitely interested in doing more NCATS stuff next season. The off-season gives us a lot of time to plan a few things out. A lot of it comes down to whether or not we can make the numbers work. The NASCAR staff are fantastic to work with, and our sponsors are very much enjoying being a part of the series. As long as our sponsors want to do more, you’ll definitely see us back”
