SAUBLE BEACH, ON- Delaware Speedway point leader Matt Pritiko continued his streak of impressive runs in extended distance events, notching a runner-up finish at Sauble Speedway’s ‘Beat the Heat 150’ on August 3rd.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this race”, said Pritiko with a smile upon clearing post-race inspection. “This is one of the best Pro Late Model events of the season. The staff here really do an amazing job. The fans are fantastic. As long as we have a Late Model in our stable, you’ll see us back here”
The London, ON driver put forth a late-race charge, but could not close the gap on eventual winner Dale Shaw in time, settling for 2nd in the Crown Jewel event.
“We had a good car early, and made a change at halfway that made us even better”, explained Pritiko. “There was a late race caution that made things interesting, and we gave it everything we had to catch Dale, but just ran outta time. He had an awesome night. We’ve had the chance to race with Dale a few times this Summer, and it’s always a blast. Hats off to him”
Pritiko is in the midst of a banner year in the Pro Late Model ranks, and currently leads the point standings in Delaware Speedway weekly competition as well as the APC Six Pack Series and the Flamboro Speedway Grisdale Triple Crown.
“It feels like this season has been the culmination of all the hard work we’ve put into this program in the last four years”, said Pritiko. “This team is incredible, and I want more than anything to bring them the results they deserve”
“I’ve never won a championship in a Late Model – so three in a single season would be amazing. We’re not focusing too much on that right now, though. We just get up every day, go to the shop and do what needs to be done”
