Fraserville, ON (June 2, 2017)- Ottawa’s Matt Haufe started just outside the top-five, but his No.88 was quickly out front and he powered to the lead on lap five in the June 2 Eastern ONtario Legends Series feature race. He then had to endure a 10-minute red flag for oil clean up while leading with two laps to go, but Haufe held on to the top spot for his third-straight Eastern Ontario Legends Series presented by Trailer’s Plus victory of the season.
“It’s absolutely great and this track is my favourite of all time,” Haufe said. “It’s really fast, with lots of great racing.”
Haufe took the lead from Jamie Riberdy of Bradford, Ont. just moments after working his way to the second position. He also held off Riberdy on a lap five restart and then Kevin Foisy of Clayton, Ont. and Cole Ledson of Cookstown, Ont. on a pair of restarts with two and four laps to go, respectively, to seal the victory.
“It’s just been totally incredible,” Haufe said of his start to the season that now includes three straight wins. “We have a great team and a great set of sponsors. It’s clicking and the race gods are smiling. Three in a row has never happened for me before, so it’s incredible.”
