Mirabel (Québec), March 30, 2012.– The Audette Racing Team will return to competition this season, contesting all rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship. While awaiting the build of a brand new car, brothers Mathieu and Rémy Audette will participate in a rotating program for a total of four races each, using the team’s Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX.
The only Quebec driver to ever win the American F2000 Championship series, Rémy Audette will not be defending his 2011 title in this open wheel series. He will instead take part in a joint venture with his brother Mathieu, at the wheel of the Audette Racing Team’s Acura RSX Type-S, the car Mathieu drove to victory numerous times in recent Canadian Touring Car Championship seasons.
« The 2012 Canadian Touring Car Championship is comprised of eight weekend outings, almost always doubleheaders. Given that we chose this series for the Audette Racing Team for 2012 and future years, we have made the decision that Rémy and I would rotate race weekends » indicates Mathieu Audette.
This means that Mathieu will contest the season’s first rounds on May 19th and 20th at the Mosport circuit in Ontario. Following that, Rémy will take the wheel for the subsequent two races, as a supporting race at the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on June 8th and 9th and then at the ICAR complex in Mirabel (June 23rd and 24th). Mathieu will then resume the driving role for the July 7th and 8th event at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant before Rémy races at Mosport on July 21st and 22nd as part of the American Le Mans weekend. The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières and the NASCAR de Montréal weekends in August will both be contested by Mathieu Audette, with Rémy closing out the season at Calabogie (Ontario) in the beginning of September. In total, Rémy Audette will participate in eight rounds and Mathieu in seven, as the NASCAR de Montréal event is the only single-round race weekend of the season.
« It’s an extraordinary calendar that takes us to Trois-Rivières, to Montréal as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the NASCAR event, as well as to the Circuit Mont-Tremblant, which remains one of my favourite tracks. Naturally, without contesting the complete championship it’s not possible for me to try for the title but our Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX is very competitive and we will be aiming for victory every time we start a race » adds Mathieu Audette.
As for Rémy Audette, he is impatiently awaiting the start of the championship : « We made some adjustments to the suspension and the engine and we will be testing the car on the track before the end of April. I’m anxious to have my Touring Car debut » he confides.
The Audette Racing Team has already decided on a Super Touring Honda Civic Si for Rémy’s 2013 Canadian Touring Car campaign, allowing both brothers to contest the entire championship and to compete against each other for the title.
The Audette Racing Team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Gulf, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
