WALKERTON, ON- When Marvin Freiburger’s No. 37 rolls into the Sauble Speedway pit area this Saturday afternoon, the fan favourite will have a singular goal on his mind: wheeling his family-owned Ford to victory lane for the first time this season.
“We’ve been good but not great so far this year,” analyzes Freiburger. “These last two weeks we’ve spent making some considerable changes to the car – so hopefully we can get over that hump on Saturday night. The team has been fantastic. We are so close to having this car exactly where we need it. We’ve been at the front every night this season, we just haven’t been able to seal the deal yet”
The former Thunder Car standout explains that he has complete confidence in his Tire Discounter Group-backed entry, and is ready to build on his previous three weeks of top-5 finishes on July 4th.
“This car is good enough to win – without question,” states the Walkerton, ON native matter-of-factly. “We just needed to make a few adjustments to maximize its potential. But, the fact that we’ve been able to run up front without our car performing at 100% is certainly a shot in the arm”
“I don’t think you need to look any farther than the points standings to understand how tight this division is,” continues Freiburger in reference to the three-way tie for second place in the standings. “There’s not a lot of room for error, but we’re in good company. Tim [Ellis] and [Jason] Parker are very good at what they do and right now our program is right on point with theirs – it’s hard not to use that as motivation. We’re all coming into this weekend tied for 2nd, so this is the perfect chance to make something happen and to create some distance”
Freiburger explains that any time a group of top-level competitors find themselves in close proximity, it seems to bring out the best in everyone.
“The intensity level is always up a few notches when the points are this close,” smiles the charismatic fan-favourite. “We’re still a long way from crowning a champion, but no one wants to fall behind this early in the season. This Saturday is going to provide one of us with the opportunity to earn a little bit of breathing room in the standings. A feature win would go a long way”
And though Sauble’s division is stacked with former champions and rising stars, ‘Marvellous’ Marvin is more than ready to stand toe-to-toe with the best of them.
“We know that we’re matched against some of the very best in the province, but in my heart of hearts I know that we have a good enough program to beat them,” says the multi-time feature winner. “We just need to make sure we’re on our game Saturday, unload fast and make the right adjustments. We’re ready for a trip to victory lane.”

The team is actively looking for volunteers to aide in their efforts to raise money for Easter Seals – those interested can contact Marvin’s wife Angela at home 519-881-1379 or on her cell 519-889-2349. Team members will meet new people, make new friends and support a phenomenal cause.
