QUEENSVILLE, ON- For the first time since June 13th, multi-time Sunset Speedway feature winner Jason ‘Bam Bam’ Witty will strap into a Ltd. Late Model on Saturday night.
The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event will mark Witty’s fourth weekend of racing this season, and will provide the Queensville, ON native with the opportunity to reassert himself at the top of Sunset’s headline division.
“The car hasn’t been perfect all season, but we’re making gains every week,” says Witty. “We’ve found some things that needed to be changed after our last race – we should be much better now”
The perennial contender will enter July 4th’s twin features sitting third in Sunset’s Sauble Falls Tent & Trailer Park championship standings – just 12-points removed from second place.
“We made some heavy changes at the start of the season that didn’t pan out,” explains Witty. “We’ve ended up reverting back to something very similar to what we had at the end of the 2014 season”
“It’s a package that we’re comfortable with – and it’s something that we know works,” continues Witty. “Which is great, because we’re all ready to start winning races again”
The fan favourite admits that the team has gone the extra mile to ensure their No. 19 is ready for Saturday night.
“We’ve managed to sneak in a couple practice sessions – and that’s really unlike us,” says Witty, tongue firmly planted in cheek.
“I see no reason why this car won’t come out and run in the top-5 on Saturday night,” continues Witty. “We know that we have to be at our best because the competition is so tough. But, we need a win. The schedule is starting to run out and we don’t have any more time to mess around”
“We need to come back and strike some fear back into these guys,” says Witty, flashing his trademark grin. “They used to be afraid of the 19 and they’re not anymore. We gotta come out and remind them of how good we can be.”
