ST-EUSTACHE, QC- After a disappointing Western swing, Mark Dilley returned to action with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 on July 26th, carving his way to a 7th place finish in the ‘National 250’ at Autodrome St-Eustache.
“It feels great to finally bring our car home in one piece”, smiled Dilley, “the Western trip took a lot out of us as a team. We really needed a top-10 finish. I’m happy I could give my guys a race they could be proud of”
The Barrie, ON driver qualified 10th, and spent the bulk of the 250-laps deep in traffic.
“We were a tick off all night, which meant we were in a battle for position almost the entire race”, said the former national champion.
“It was one of those nights where a top-10 wasn’t a given – we definitely had to fight for it. We had to earn it tonight”
Dilley worked his way as high as 5th in the final 50-laps, but surrendered a pair of positions late in the race as he wrestled with an ill-handling race car.
“We took tires on our final trip down pit road and it loosened the car right up”, explained Dilley. “With 20-laps to go, I was doing my best just to hang on”
With his second top-10 of the season in hand, Dilley will return to action with the series on August 16th, for the Wilson Equipment 300 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, NS.
