(Bedford, NS – September 11th, 2018) – The Maritime League of Legends Tour will crown a champion for the 2018 season on Saturday, September 15th at Scotia Speedworld. The Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 50 will serve as the tenth and final round on the 2018 Tour and third stop to the 3/10-mile oval on the year. The Legend cars will race prior to the Dartmouth Dodge 200 Season Finale for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, with qualifying for both divisions getting underway at 4pm.

Three teams will enter the Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 50 with a shot of exiting as the Series champion. Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) will lead the field into battle and carries an 11-point lead on the Farrell’s Racing entry and a 12-point cushion on Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS). Baker has had a consistent season, but the pressure has been poured on by his closest competitors over the last three rounds. The plan of attack is simple for Baker in which a fourth place finish or better at his home race track would clinch the championship, regardless where the No. 12 or No. 75 cars finish. The Series has visited Scotia Speedworld twice this year, with the No. 53 Atlantic Tiltload car finishing in fourth in both events.

Farrell’s Racing is looking to grab their third consecutive Maritime League of Legends Tour championship. Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) has piloted the car in seven of the first nine races with a best finish of second in the most recent round at Speedway 660 presented by King Freight Lines. With Scotia Speedworld’s age rule not allowing the 14 year old to compete on Saturday, the team has tabbed Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake, NS) to drive the car in hopes of coming out a champion for a third straight season.

Meehan has been battling with Baker all season long in Legend car competition. Meehan will not only battle for a championship on Saturday with the Maritime League of Legends Tour but also has a Friday night Weekly Racing Series title on the line. While she leads the Friday night Scotia Speedworld points, she will have to bring the offence to the point battle Saturday as she sits a dozen points back with only one race remaining. Of note, Meehan is the only driver in the championship battle to win a Maritime League of Legends Tour race on 2018, winning on the first stop to Petty International Raceway in July.

The Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie of the Year Award was clinched at Speedway 660 by “The Flying Frenchman” Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB). His lead is bigger than 100 points on the rest of the freshman field, meaning he cannot be caught in the season long battle. That does not mean Cormier has nothing to fight for on Saturday though. Cormier enters one point back from fourth place overall, currently occupied by Cory Hall Racing teammate and four time feature winner on 2018 in Craig MacDonald (Waverley). MacDonald has won the two races contested for the Tour at Scotia Speedworld in 2018 and would like complete the sweep on Saturday.

With Scotia Speedworld being the home of Legend cars in Eastern Canada, it is expected a number of the Strictly Hydraulics Legend car regulars will race on Saturday in the final race for the division in the Maritimes for 2018. Fans can expect the likes of Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS), Andrew and Shane Lively (Middle Sackville, NS), Ray Cox Jr (Porter’s Lake, NS), Cy Harvey (Elmsdale, NS), Robin Lowthers (Burlington, NS) and more to enter the fray. They will be tough against Series regulars though, the likes of most recent winner and Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS), Kyle Shipley (Spryfield, NS), Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS), Darren Sherwood (Cambridge Narrows, NB) and Gary Dunning (Charlottetown, PE).
