MONTMAGNY, QC – Marc-Antoine Camirand swept Saturday’s NASCAR Canada doubleheader at Autodrome Montmagny, earning his third and fourth victories of the 2026 season and extending his championship lead.
Camirand captured the opening race after reclaiming the lead from William Larue in the closing stages following a wheel-to-wheel battle. The driver of the No. 96 GM Paillé / Chevrolet Canada Chevrolet started from the pole but spent much of the race chasing William Larue in the No. 45 Larue Industrial Snow Blowers/Leeboy Chevrolet before making the decisive pass.
Larue finished second, while Kevin Lacroix behind the No. 74 Valvoline/NAPA Racing Chevrolet completed the podium in third.
“The No. 96 GM Paillé car was really fast today. The No. 45 was very strong at the beginning of the race, but I stayed patient. I waited for his car to get a little loose, then I was able to get my nose underneath him. Lap traffic made things a little tricky, but in the end we came out on top,” said Camirand.
Andrew Ranger in the No. 27 GM Paillé / Chevrolet Canada worked his way up from 13th to finish fourth during his milestone 200th NASCAR Canada Series start, while Alex Tagliani in the No. 3 Olymel/Wurth/Ureco Chevrolet recovered from a rear-of-the-field start following radio issues to finish seventh.
William Larue started the second race from the pole and led the field to the green flag, but the race was immediately slowed by a multi-car incident on the opening lap. Alex Guenette’s No. 39 DLGL / GL Électricité-Automatisations Chevrolet sustained the heaviest damage in the accident, ending the championship contender’s race.
Camirand took the lead from Larue on the first restart and remained out front despite several cautions throughout the race. Behind him, Kevin Lacroix worked his way into second, while D.J. Kennington in the No. 17 Castrol/BrimstoneGames/DriveBuySupply/CIM Dodge climbed from 11th on the grid to complete the podium.
“The No. 96 GM Paillé car was even better than it was in the first race,” said Camirand. “Once I got by the No. 45, I focused on managing the race, taking care of the tires and the car in case we got another caution. I’m really proud of the team. What a night.”
The NASCAR Canada Series returns to road course competition July 18-19 at Calabogie Motorsports Park.
