May 29, 2013- It was all set to be another action packed weekend for Luke Whitteker and his Whitteker Motorsports team with a 50 lap event at Mohawk International Raceway scheduled for Friday night, and back to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night followed by the rescheduled 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series race at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday.

While the Whitteker Motorsports team was ready, Mother Nature had other ideas, and shortly before noon on Friday, Mohawk Raceway, along with every other Friday night track in the region had cancelled their racing program.

Saturday’s forecast looked better, but not without the occasional shower that showed up close to the track on the weather radar.  Like many nights at Brockville, they were able to avoid any serious rain, and the show continued without delay.  Luke started his qualifying heat from the front row, and took the lead right from the start, cruising to victory.  In the 30 lap main event, Whitteker lined up from the inside of row three in the fifth starting position and maintained that position for much of the event.  With the checkered flag in sight Whitteker pressed forward and moved from sixth to fourth in the final two laps.

On Sunday, the plan was to head to Cornwall Speedway, but after rain throughout the night lasted well into Sunday morning, Cornwall track officials were forced to cancel the 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series season opening event for the second consecutive week.

This coming week, Whitteker will be back at Brockville on Saturday night for the 50 lap Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series event, and back to Cornwall on Sunday as they attempt to get in the 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series race for the third time.

Luke and the Whitteker Motorsports Racing Team would like to thank their sponsors; Rust Check, Toy Storage, Jim’s Performance Plus, ET Performance, C Double J Harvesting, Parcoll Products/Napa Auto Parts, Storm Realty Cornwall, Cohen and Lord Insurance, ERD Engine Research and Development, Bicknell Racing Products, Thompson Tim-Br Mart, Wells & Son Construction, Fence Depot, Mile One Mobile, HW Supplies, Black Dog Tire & Lubricants, Fireball Performance Automatics Inc., L.R.
