Mirabel, (Quebec Canada) – July 8th, 2013- Behind the wheel of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has crossed the finish line in third place at ICAR during yesterday’s Jiffy Lube 100 event. The weekend’s objective has been met, as this second podium allows him to rank second in the championship, only two points behind the leader.
During Saturday’s practice, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has achieved the best lap time (1:36.116) and ranks himself among the four drivers who have beaten the track record. Track condition changed dramatically and has complicated the qualifying session, despite minor mechanical problems, the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge starts in the fourth position.
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin explains, “After getting first place in the trials, minor problems occurred with the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare during qualifications. Despite that, we have succeeded and maintaining a position in the top-5. The mechanical team has quickly rectified the situation, and we started the race with new adjustments.”
Everything played out between the 17th and 21st laps. Only two caution flags occurred during the race, and the Quebecer has quickly revised his strategy in order to gain places. “I was very patient early in the race to save the tires and brakes, we expected more yellow here at ICAR, and it turns out it wasn’t the case”, said Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, who has successfully overtaken two opponents to end up on the podium.
Satisfied with his third place finish, the renowned road circuit specialist emphasizes the importance of accumulating points for the championship and talks about the importance of his partnership: “We are having a good momentum and it’s good to keep it. It’s important for me to be associated with WeatherTech Canada, and they offer us the opportunity to perform on-track behind the wheel of some of the most competitive cars.”
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will be back on track soon with two upcoming oval races in Western Canada (July 13th and 17th).
