VICTORIA, BC – This Saturday Night will see Western Speedway celebrate its 59th year of auto racing in 2013, at the fast 4/10ths mile paved oval located in Langford. Western Speedway welcomes LORDCO Auto Parts as the new Title Sponsor of the Demo Series that will kick off the first event of the year, featuring the Demo Cars, Demo Trucks, Bombers and the Mini Figure 8’s.
Western Speedway officials are excited about the upcoming season, as the schedule will produce exciting events, every weekend from opening night until the end of September. After last year’s concentrated effort at
running a fast paced exciting show, track officials are excited to get rolling, the goal this year is have all events completed by 9:30 PM.
Speedway management feels this will be a win, win situation as it will keep our neighbors happy as well as getting our family’s home at a reasonable hour to go along with our motto ” Number 1 in Family Fun.”
2013 will also see the return of the fast growing Family Pack that allows 2 Adults and up to 4 youths 7-13 for the low price of $35.00, truly making in Victoria’s Number 1 in Family Fun Center.
In the Bomber Division Aaron Cameron will be back to defend his 2012 championship, after finishing only 7 points behind Brandon Steen in 2011. Cameron will be looking to make it two championships in a row, but can expect tough competition from a number of drivers including Morgan Gilles, Dennis Stewart, Andrew Wilson and Danny Madden.
Two of the top five drivers Mark Lockhart and Brandon Moore have moved up to the Stock Car Class.
Brandon Young the 2013 Mini Figure 8 Champion can once again expect a battle to the championship a s 2011 Champion Kyle Rizok will be looking to take back the championship. You can also never count out Kail Beck
as the East Sooke driver is always in the hunt at ever event.
In the Demo Truck Division George Haywood is expected to content for his second straight championship as well. Contenders in this division for the Championship include George Haywood, Jeff can once again Foley,
Kenny Baker and Brandon Young.
The Demo car class title should be a great battle as Smokin Joe Liberatore is back to defend his title, Liberatore will find stiff competition as the Young Family Racing plans to field four cars, with father Jim leading the way, as well as sons Cody, Shawn and Brandon.
After an absence of over 10 years Wild Bill Gallagher will be back in action and should proof to be a condender for the championship.
The next event at Western Speedway will be Saturday May 4th with the Richlock Rentals WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars as well as the Island Series Stock Cars Mini Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Hornets.
The front gates open at 4:30 pm, qualifying at 5:30 and racing at 6:30 pm.
