Stroud, ON (July 6, 2017) – Lisa DeLeeuw continues to get better on a weekly basis as she picked up her best career Mini Stock feature finish at Sunset Speedway this past weekend.
The DY Racing driver started off the night solidly, posting a sixth-place finish in her first heat, followed by an eighth-place finish in the second qualifier.
Starting up front for the 25-lap feature, DeLeeuw ran fourth in the early laps, ultimately racing three-wide with Doug Wilman and Cameron McGlashan for the position at Lap 5. She would drop back a couple spots in the next series of laps, running 10th by the halfway mark of the event. She continued to battle hard, though, and was able to jump up to the ninth position when a fellow competitor had a mechanical problem with three laps to go.
She continued to post strong lap times through the closing stages, ultimately crossing the finish line in the ninth position.
With her first top-10 of 2017, she currently sits 12th in points, just 15 markers behind Bob Phinnemore for 10th. She will hope to continue improving this weekend on Saturday, July 8 in the ninth night of points competition.
DeLeeuw and DY Racing are proud to be supported by Partimer Sign, Skytec Rentals, Solex Steel, Safeway Towing, BDS Enterprises, Can-alignment, Scentsy Independent Consultant, Jays Signs and Graphics, P&A Plastics, Higher Ground Landscaping, and Cabral Racing Promotions.
