Montréal, February 6, 2013– For the past several years, Auto Sport Québec has awarded the Gilles-Villeneuve Trophy is also awarded, although not every year, symbolizing competitiveness and driving excellence throughout an entire season.
“This year, we have decided to put a call out to representatives of the media specializing in motorsports in order to select the recipients of this special honour,” specifies the president of the sanctioning body Auto Sport Québec.
At the Rallye Perce-Neige, the first round of the 2013 Canadian Rally Championship, Nathalie Richard and Antoine L’Estage were presented with the 2012 Gilles-Villeneuve Trophy.
“It’s a real honour for us to receive this award. The name Villeneuve commands a lot of respect in the world of motorsports and the fact that our team is now associated with that name is great recognition of what we have accomplished at the top of our discipline,” shares Antoine.
Since becoming a team seven years ago, Nathalie Richard and Antoine L’Estage’s record has been filled with success, highlighted by, but not restricted to, 5 Canadian Championships, 5 North American Rally Cups, 1 Rally America title, and 1 X Games bronze medal. L’Estage is the first rally driver in 31 years to receive this award and Richard is the very first female recipient.
Not as well known to the public as they deserve, Nathalie Richard, Antoine L’Estage are talented ambassadors of rally car racing. By way of this trophy, Auto Sport Québec is proud to be able to showcase the achievements of these three athletes and applaud the example they set for the younger generations. As an FIA representative in Québec, the Auto Sport Québec’s mission is to promote all motorsport disciplines and to encourage the development of higher driving standards, in order to improve road safety.
