OWEN SOUND, ON- Leggers’ Race Shop founder Jason Legge has confirmed a partnership with former Hurricane Midget standout Mike Westwood of MW Fabrication, to provide an entry for Westwood’s first career Sunset Speedway Limited Late Model appearance.
“I’m excited to be able to provide the opportunity for Mike Westwood to make his Late Model debut”, smiles Legge in his Owen Sound, ON shop.
“Mike has a tonne of talent and limitless potential. I look forward to seeing what he can do in a 125-Lap race”
The $3000-to-win event is sure to draw some of the top names in the division, and will provide Westwood the ideal opportunity to log laps in advance of his fulltime Ltd. Late Model effort planned for 2015.
“This is a bit of a baptism by fire”, jokes Westwood. “Competition is always something that’s motivated me, and there will certainly be plenty of that on Thursday night”
“Legger and I are working on putting together a Modified deal for him next season, and I have my own Limited Late Model coming along for 2015. So, all of this really came together at the right time”
When asked strategy for the 125-lap event, both men confirmed the main objective is seat time.
“The expectation is certainly not to go down there and set the world on fire”, explains Legge. “We both wanted to make sure we supported the event, and I know that Mike’s main goal is to build some familiarity with the division itself”
“This promises to be one of the biggest races of the season, I’m just happy to be a part of it”, says Westwood. “125-laps is a long time, and anything can happy when you get into the deep water. We’re going to hope to make it to lap-100 and see where we’re at”
Marketing support for the team’s Canadian Limited Late Model Championship entry is provided by Corwen Container Services, Grey Bruce Patio Enclosures, Tilly’s Cafe and Eatery, VR Collision, MW Fabrication, Klotz Synthetics and The Warnes Family.
