KINCARDINE, ON- Multi-time Sauble Speedway Mini Stock feature winner Kevin Bridge will be in the field for tonight’s ‘Battle at the Beach’ invitational.
“I don’t think there’s a driver in Ontario that isn’t aware of how tough it is to win at Sauble,” says Bridge when asked about the quality of competition at the speedway. “When you come up here – you’re racing against the teams on this roster, but you’re also racing the track itself. It’s not an easy place to get a handle on if you’re only here once or twice a year”
The event has sent waves through the Mini Stock division, and is likely to draw some of the biggest names from across the province.
“Races like this are what make this division so awesome,” explains Bridge. “I have no doubt that when the gates swing open this afternoon, you’ll see some of the best cars from all over Ontario. We have a fantastic program – and I think we match up well with any of the top tier teams on this entry list”
For Bridge, the event comes with some additional pressures, with his family-run team hoping to bring the hardware back to Sauble.
“There’s definitely a little bit of added motivation when one of these big events is at your home track,” admits the Mini Stock veteran. We don’t wanna let one of these outsiders come in and poach a big win on our home turf – so we’re going to see what we can do to beat them to victory lane”
In his last appearance at Sauble, Bridge powered his Honda CRX to a runner-up finish. Today, he will look to claim the final step on the podium.
“This car was really good the last time we had it out at Sauble. We have an awesome base to build from – and I’m confident that we’ll be able to adjust on it throughout the night. We’ll have something for ’em on Saturday night.”
