CHESLEY, ON- ‘Prime Time’ Josh Stade will enter Round 1 of the Sauble vs. Sunset ‘Home and Home Series’ on July 12th riding back to back podium finishes. The second-generation star hopes to keep his MEI Paving No. 17 Ford at the front of the field this Saturday, against some of the top Ltd. Late Model talent in the province.
“The Home and Home Series events were probably some of the best races we had all last season”, explains Stade when asked about the upcoming mini-series.
“When the tracks announced it was coming back for 2014, I couldn’t wait to be a part of it again. In my opinion, Sauble and Sunset have the top talent anywhere in Ontario. When you put them both together, you’re guaranteed a phenomenal show”
The Chesley, ON driver – one of the rising stars of the Sauble roster – will hope to defend his home turf against a litany of impressive visiting talent, in a field that could number close to 30 cars.
“This race is going to be every bit as big as the Crown Jewel events that everyone wants to win. The Beat the Heat, the Velocity, the Autumn Colours Classic – I think this race is going to be just as tough to win based on the talent we’re going to be competing against”
“Races like this are why you put in the hours in the shop”, Stade continues, “we want to test ourselves against the very best. Lucky for us, this weekend we’re going to have them come right to our doorstep”
Stade’s recent streak of top-3 finishes is the result of many late night tests, and brainstorming sessions with noted setup expert Brian MacDonald.
“This car didn’t come to us right off the bat, this season”, admits Stade. “We definitely had to work for it. I’ve lost count of how many different combinations we’ve tried, before hitting on what we have now”
“All those late nights were worth it, though”, smiles the 21-year old. “We’ve absolutely turned a corner with this car. It’s getting better every week, now”
