NEW HAMBURG, ON- Third-generation driver Jake Watson will take his sophomore Mini Stock campaign on the road this weekend, as he heads for Round 1 of the Sauble vs. Sunset ‘Home and Home Series’ at Sauble Speedway.
“We’ve never raced at Sauble. So, I can’t wait to get out there for first practice and feel the place out”, said the well-spoken middle-school student.
“Sauble has a lot of fast cars, so it’s going to be a challenge for us to come into their backyard and try to pull off a solid finish. It’s going to have a lot to do with how much we can pick up in practice”
Watson – who just celebrated his 13th birthday this week – is eager to continue his improvement in just his second full season of stock car competition.
“I don’t even feel like I’m the same driver I was when I started the season. I’ve been working hard at this, and I hope I can show everybody that this weekend”
“From what I’ve seen, Sauble’s the sort of place where you have to be patient, and let the race come to you. If you try to push the issue, you can end up junked pretty quickly. That fits my style. I think if we can dodge some of the rough stuff, we could put this car in the top-10”
Jake Watson’s Sauble debut would not be possible with the support of his sponsors, Spira Fire Protection, HYPE Energy Drinks, Fast Eddie Racewear, Process Group, Race2Way.ca, Expressway Ford, Cloverleaf Farms, Stewart’s Equipment, Artik Ice, WIX Filters, Gunk, Chetty’s Hot Sauce, Cambridge Source For Sports, Oktane Productions and Lucas Oil.
