SAUBLE BEACH, ON- Rising star Josh Stade returned to Sauble Speedway victory lane on August 9th, leading all 35-laps of competition in breaking a near two-year long Ltd. Late Model winless streak.
“This one is for every single member of my family and team that have stuck by me”, said an ecstatic Stade post-race. “Last year was rough on this team, and we had our fair share of struggles this season too. But, that all feels a million miles away right now. This is such an incredible feeling”
‘Prime Time’ took the green from the drop of the green flag, and held off a late-race charge from Tom Gibbons and Marvin Freiburger en route to victory.
“It’s tough sledding here each and every Saturday”, explained Stade when asked of the talent level at Sauble. “These guys are all on their game. No one’s out here just to mess around. These guys have phenomenal equipment and top notch programs. It’s an honour to race in this division”
“We had a caution with 7-laps to go, and I had Marvin [Freiburger] outside of me and Tommy [Gibbons] right behind me. Both of those guys have been really good these last few weeks. I knew I would have to nail the restart to hold them off and, thankfully, that’s exactly what I was able to do”
The win comes after a streak of impressive runs for Stade’s family-owned operation, who have worked closely with chassis guru Brian MacDonald throughout the 2014 campaign.
“This team has been so close, so many times that I knew we were due”, said the second-generation driver. “We’re coming off of the busiest two weeks of the season for our team, so we just recently went through this whole car. Brian and my Dad tweaked some stuff this week and it just woke the car right up”
“I really can’t thank everybody enough”, beamed Stade. “My crew, my sponsors, my family and my girlfriend have all been incredible. Without them, none of this would be possible”
Josh will return to action this Saturday, August 16th at Sauble Speedway for another 35-lap event. Gate times and ticket prices can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca.
