CHESLEY, ON- Fresh off of a strong finish to the 2014 weekly season at Sauble Speedway, ‘Prime Time’ Josh Stade is ready for the first round of Ontario’s short track Playoff Season. The second-generation star will head to Sunset Speedway on Thursday, September 18th for the first ever ‘Canadian Limited Late Model Championship’.
The 125-lap affair is likely to pit Stade against some of the top competition from across Ontario, and will give the up-and-comer an opportunity at his first career Sunset victory.
“This race is going to be huge. I’m counting down the days”, smiles ‘Prime Time’. “Any time you unload at Sunset, there’s a certain atmosphere that can’t be matched anywhere. Every race there feels like a big event. The talent is top notch and the fans are some of the best around”
“I’ve raced 150-lap events in a Pro Late Model, but 125-laps will be the longest Ltd. Late Model race I’ve ever competed in”, continues Stade. “I think equipment preservation is going to be a huge difference maker. If you can keep the tires on your car, you’re going to have a great shot at a strong finish”
Stade enters the September 18th event riding a wave of momentum, after notching a win and a runner-up effort in the final 2 Sauble events of 2014.
“Ending Sauble’s season on a high note felt amazing”, explains the Chesley, ON hot-shoe. “We chased the setup in this car all season, and finally got it to work late in the year. My dad and Brian MacDonald deserve all the credit in the world. I don’t think they were going to rest until this car came to life”
In addition to the CLLMC, Stade intends on competing at Sunset’s Velocity event on September 27th and 28th and Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic on October 10th, 11th and 12th. With those events looming, Stade knows a strong run on September 18th could make all the difference.
“Momentum is huge when you reach the end of the season”, says Stade. “If we can knock down a top-5 on Thursday, it’s going to put us in the right frame of mind for the Velocity and the Classic. We’re firing on all cylinders right now, as a team. The car’s working great and this team wants to get a couple more wins before the season ends”
“It all starts on the 18th, we’ll be unloading with our A-Game”, adds Stade.
