CHESLEY, ON- Sauble Speedway rising star Josh Stade hopes to avenge a disappointing mechanical DNF suffered in his last Sunset Speedway appearance on September 18th, when he returns to action during the 2014 edition of the ‘Velocity 250’ on September 27th and 28th.
“The worst part about not finishing a race is the moments spent beating yourself up about it”, offers Stade as he works to put the finishing touches on his Stade Motorsports No. 17.
“I would’ve raced the next day”, continues ‘Prime Time’, “just to make up for it and to get it out of my system”
Stade is referencing the 125-lap Canadian Limited Late Model Championship event on Thursday, September 18th. The second-generation star qualified strong and ran within the top-10 through the bulk of the race’s first half, before pulling to pit road with engine troubles.
“We pulled off because we thought we had some valve train noise”, explains Stade. “It turns out the battery had died and we had lost all power. We went through the engine last week just to make sure nothing was hurt, and it looks as though we’re all clear to get back at it this weekend”
“I’m even more motivated now than I was last Thursday”, continues Stade. “I feel as though I owe it to my team to come out and put this car at the front. They worked their guts out to get this car working right last week, and a bad battery took us out. Now, I want to get back on track and reward their hard work”
With over 30 Ltd. Late Models expected to try their hand at qualifying for the 75-lap A Main, Stade knows that half the weekend’s battle will be spent earning a starting position for Sunday’s afternoon’s feature.
“We’re not taking anything for granted”, says Stade. “There are going to be more than a few good cars sent home before the feature on Sunday. Events like this have a way of surprising people. I don’t want to get lazy and find ourselves on the wrong end of the B Main”
“Practice time will be invaluable on Saturday morning”, continues the well-spoken up-and-comer. “We’re going to do everything we can to get this car to the very best of its abilities. We’ve never been afraid of a little hard work, and I have a feeling that’s going to pay off for us this weekend”
