There comes a time in the career of any racer where they need to step outside of their comfort zone and explore some unfamiliar territory.
Orillia, Ont.’s Josh Inglis will hit the road for his maiden voyage to the sunshine state and an exciting motorsports experience. With the encouragement of his Canadian Legend Car Series team owners Peyton and Patty Einarson, the 26-year-old will make his first start at the 2023 Winter Nationals on February 12 to 17 at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida.
Even with his most recent schedule curtailed due to work commitments, with his job as a heavy equipment operator, the driver of the No. 51J car still managed to finish 14th in the final running order, after eight starts in his second season at the controls of his Legend Car machine at tracks like Sunset, Sauble and Flamboro speedways and his personal favourite, Peterborough Speedway.
Inglis and his crew are pumped to get a chance to log some laps prior to the new season getting underway here at home.
“This show promises to be a lot of fun and I’m anxious to see what we’ll bring to the table,” said Inglis, who’s racing resume also includes starts in the Outlaw Midget and provincial Mini Stock ranks. “I’ve been involved in the sport since I was 13-years-old but I’ve always been the type of racer who takes things year-by-year, with an eye toward whatever new opportunities come along.”
As excited as he is about making his first trip to race south of the border, Inglis knows it will take some additional funding for his team to make the trek. His existing backers, including Bromley Automotive, A/C Plus Automotive, Wally’s & Einarson Trucking, Overkill Enterprises, LGP, Sunshine Super Wash and everyone at Canadian Legend Cars, will be part of the program, with new partners welcome to come on board.
Working with his regular crew of Rob Einarson, Scott Urry, Fil Gala, Mitch and Kohen Bull to prepare and maintain the car, along with his daughter Harper – who will celebrate her second birthday in January, Josh Inglis is thankful to the team’s many family members and friends who have pitched in and worked hard behind the scenes to make his newest motorsports adventure come true.
“Even though everything is still in the planning stages, it’s a very exciting time for the team and me,” admitted the driver. “We’re happy to welcome additional support for this trip, as well as the upcoming race season.
