He would avoid trouble early and carefully work his way up through the traffic, running fifth with 28 laps to go. He would slip back to sixth on the restart, slipping back another spot in the final laps to cross the finish line in the seventh spot.
Starting in the sixth spot for the second feature virtue of the top-14 invert, he would slip back to ninth in the first 16 laps. He would battle back, though, getting alongside Al Inglis for the sixth spot four laps later, taking it at lap 24. He would then fall back to seventh with three laps to go. He would then hold off the rest of the field to finish seventh.
