Stroud, ON (July 10, 2017)- While it wasn’t the night JL Motorsports envisioned, they were able to leave Sunset Speedway with one top-five finish.
After qualifying fifth for the first 35-lap feature on the night, he moved up into third in the early laps, running there till the first yellow flag waved at Lap 22. He would battle side-by-side with Billy Zardo on the restart, holding him off to remain third. He would ultimately fall back a couple spots, though, battling side-by-side with Thayne Hallyburton for fifth when the caution waved at Lap 26. As a result of going back a lap restart for the restart, Latimer was able to move back up to fourth.
Restarting fourth, he’d battle side-by-side with Thayne Hallyburton for the position all the way to the checkered flag, ultimately coming up short as he finished fifth.
Starting 10th in the second feature after the invert, he escaped the early pair of incidents without any damage to move up to seventh by the third lap. He would avoid a spin ahead of him on Lap 5 to move up another spot to sixth. Restarting just outside of the top-five, he continued to run sixth, battling side-by-side with Danny Benedict at the halfway mark. He would clear Benedict for the spot at Lap 19, remaining sixth as the caution flew once again.
Restarting just outside of the top-five, he remained sixth, poised for a strong finish. However, contact happened over the course of the run, resulting in a broken suspension part, with Latimer rolling to a stop in turns three and four with seven laps to go, ending his feature early.
Jordan Latimer will return to Sunset Speedway on July 22 in hopes of scoring his eighth top-10 of the season.
