HILLSBURGH, ON- Following a 6th place finish in his sophomore debut, second-generation star Jordan Howse is retooled and ready for Week 2 of the Sunset Speedway season.
The former Karting standout established himself as a rising star in the Mini Stock division with a victory at Sunset’s Velocity 250 last September, and is looking to make a push for the 2015 championship.
“We learned a lot about our racecar on opening night,” explains Howse. “This division is awesome because everything is constantly changing. The cars get faster, the drivers get better and it’s up to us as a team to adapt and find a way to get better”
“Everyone in this division is looking to do the same thing we are,” continues Howse. “That’s all the motivation we need. Because we’re ready to do whatever it takes to be the best car in the pits every Saturday”
Howse’s family-run effort will look to build on their top-10 performance on May 2nd, after spending a number of late nights tweaking their No. 72.
“We’re really not far off from where we want to be,” says Howse. “The car felt great in practice last week but it tightened up in qualifying. Once the sun set and it cooled off, we loosened back up again”
“It’s a long season, and we have plenty of time to get a hold on our car, but we want to make sure we figure it out sooner rather than later,” continues Howse. “With a field as tight as this, if you get in a hole early, it’s awfully hard to pull yourself out of it”
“I’m confident that our program has everything it needs to be successful – it’s just up to us to put it all together. The competition in this division is second to none. As tough as it was to run up front last season, it’s going to be even more difficult this year”
“But, we’re not afraid of hard work. We know that we’re as good as any other team on this roster and we can’t wait to prove it.”
Jordan will return to action with the Graham Landscape Limited Mini Stocks this Saturday, May 9th at Sunset Speedway. Qualifying begins at 3:30pm with Opening Ceremonies taking place at 5:00pm. Details, including additional times and ticket prices, can be found at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca.
Marketing support for Howse’s sophomore season will be provided by Stewart’s Equipment, Kubota, Glenn Windrem Trucking, Paul Howse and Associates, Central Industrial Supply, Foodland of Hillsburgh, Progressive Waste, Howse Automotive, John Teune Engines, FierceWraps.ca and Georgia Beck Brooms.
