QUEENSVILLE, ON- With an impressive opening to his 2015 campaign under his belt, Jason ‘Bam Bam’ Witty is ready to take another step towards victory lane in Sunset Speedway’s wildly competitive Sauble Falls Tent & Trailer Park NASCAR Late Model division in Week 2 of competition on May 9th.
The second-generation driver impressed in both 35-lap features on May 2nd, carving out a 4th place finish in Feature No. 1 followed by an 8th place result in Feature No. 2.
“We were a little on the tight side all night,” explained Witty post-race. “We just couldn’t through the middle with any speed – which really hurt us”
“But, as rough as the night was for some of these other cars, we’ll take what we got,” added the personable veteran with a laugh. “We stayed out of trouble and came home in one piece. In a field this tough and with this many cars, that’s a huge bonus. Now, we get to focus on making our car faster this week – not putting it back together again”
When asked about the level of competition in Sunset’s headline division, Witty made sure not to mince words.
“I think the level of talent out here is incredible. If you’re not unloading in the morning prepared to grind for every spot – then you’re in trouble. We plan on spending some time in the shop this week to try and catch some stuff that we may have missed on Saturday”
“Racing against competition as good as this, you have to make sure that you put the work in,” continued Witty. “What we do on Saturday is a very small part of it. A huge percentage of what gets you to victory lane is done before you ever load up to head to the speedway”
“I can’t thank my guys enough, because without them there is no team. My Dad, Rob Schuyler, Connor Chadwick and Cooper Pearce put their hearts and souls into this program. I’m just the lucky guy that gets to drive it.”
Jason Witty’s 2015 program is made possible thanks to R&W Equipment, Queensville Sod, Carrot Express, Matco Tools, Speedy Auto Machine and LaRues Haulage.
