KINGSTON, ON (August 2, 2018)- By its nature, the sport of short track racing offers very few opportunities for a home game. Successful drivers and teams are more inclined to focus their attention on tracks where they’ve found a comfortable set-up that will help give them a chance to make it to victory lane.
Even though she spent the early stages of her racing career as a Brockville Ontario Speedway regular, earning the Mini Stock track championship in 2007, Jessica Power has been turning laps in her #52 Sportsman-Modified machine in New York State at Can Am, Fulton and Weedsport Speedways for the past few seasons. Wednesday, August 8th the Queen’s University graduate will return to her racing roots and compete in the inaugural running of the Bullringer 110 at The BOS.
“Its always great to run close to home and in front of my family, friends and fans,” Jessica Power said. “Our team races three nights in a row every weekend and that keeps everyone very busy. To have the chance to be part of a marquee event like this – and have it about 30 minutes from our front door – is the ideal situation.”
Against a very competitive field, the 31-year-old Power from Kingston, Ontario – who works in the recruiting office of her alma matter – says the crew has given her a great car since the season got underway. Its a fact that is backed-up by her 2018 statistics. With close to 30 starts on her resume this year, she’s managed a hat-trick of main event wins that has been complimented by 10 top 5 and 19 top 10 finishes.
Heading into the $2,000 to win mid-week special event at Brockville, Jessica Power sits fifth in the point standings at her Friday night home of Can Am, seventh at Fulton Speedway, where she runs on Saturday nights and is tied for 11th place in the running order at Weedsport Speedway.
“We’re having a lot of fun and the team is working really well together,” said the driver. “We’ve met so many amazing people over the years and our crew always enjoys being at the track
