NEW HAMBURG, ON- Canadian Vintage Modified freshman Jerrid Morphy will return to action this Saturday, August 2nd at Flamboro Speedway. Morphy will look to take control of the Rookie points in Round 8 of the 2014 schedule.
“Flamboro was one of the tracks that we had a tough time figuring out, but we’ve gotten better with each outing there”, explained Morphy.
“The more I race with the club, the more I pick up from the veterans around me”, continued the former Karting champion. “That’s especially true for Flamboro, because a lot of these guys have hundreds and hundreds of laps around there”
Morphy is hoping to rebound from a disappointing outing at Delaware in Round 7, where the rookie ran within the top-10 for the entirety of the race before being caught in a late-race incident that relegated him to a 14th place finish.
“We have to get up and dust ourselves off after Delaware”, said Morphy. “That was a phenomenal run for us that definitely didn’t end the way we were hoping it to”
“I had never been to Delaware before, it’s one of my new favourites. It’s fast and you have a tonne of room to move. We were able to find speed very early in the day, which made it easy to make adjustments. This team deserved a top-10 finish, but we ended up making contact with a car that spun right in front of us late in the race”
Round 8 of the series will serve as the first race in a very busy month of August, as Morphy prepares to race 4 times in one month for the first time in his Canadian Vintage Modified career.
“I’m excited for what we have ahead of us, I think this is the perfect test to see how far we’ve come”, said Morphy. “It feels as though this team has learned so much from our first practice session in this car. It’s been a lot of work, but we’ve come a long way”
