THOROLD, Ont. (April 23, 2022) – The Southern Ontario Sprints tour was back on track Saturday night at Merrittville Speedway, and Jake Brown took advantage of his front row starting spot to claim the third SOS win of his career.
Glenn Styres and Jake Brown made up the front row for the 25 lap A-Main and Brown took the early lead. Jacob Dykstra moved up to the third spot on lap four, just before a spin by Paul Pekkonen brought out the yellow flag. Brown, Styres, and Dykstra raced for the lead after the restart, while Ryan Turner moved through the field and eventually took over the second position on lap 14. Turner closely pursued the leader, but Brown was able to stay ahead and claim the third SOS win of his career and first at Merrittville.
Turner took a runner-up finish, followed by Dykstra, Mitch Brown, and Styres. Heat race wins went to Aaron Turkey, Ryan Turner, and Brayden Cooley, while Turkey also won the Frontier Transportation Service Dash for Cash. The event was the first in over two years for the SOS tour following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Southern Ontario Sprints tour will next be in action on Saturday, May 14 at Southern Ontario Motor Speedway. Visit www.southernontariosprints.com for more information.
