Stroud, ON (June 6, 2017)- After having to restart from the back of the field five laps into the feature, Jade Franklin drove his way back to the front en route to a top-10 finish at Sunset Speedway.
Franklin started off the night solidly, posting a seventh-place finish in the first heat, followed by a fifth in the second qualifier.
Starting fourth in the feature, he began to move up quickly, taking third on the initial start before getting alongside Coltin Everingham for second as the caution flew on Lap 5 for an incident in turn four. Under the yellow, Franklin was back-flagged for the gas cap being loose, bringing him to pit road for it to be tightened; as a result, he’d restart the race at tail end of the field.
Restarting in last, he was able to sneak by the wreck on the restart in turn two without any damage, gaining a couple positions in the process. He continued to move forward, running 11th as of the halfway point. He continued to move forward, breaking into the top-10 just before the sixth caution flew with six laps to go. He got a good restart, and escaped the wreck at the finish line among the top-five runners to cross the finish line with a ninth-place finish.
With his second top-10 finish of 2017, he currently sits 11th in points, just three markers outside of the top-10. Franklin will hope to keep the momentum rolling this weekend at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, June 10 for the fourth night of competition.
