It was a busy summer for Kyle Steckly, who had his best statistical season yet to successfully defend his APC United Late Model Series championship, while also racing full-time south of the border.
Steckly had a slow start to the APC Series season, with a win at Flamboro Speedway representing his only top-five in the first three races. He then took control of the championship battle with a string of top-two finishes; he won at Delaware Speedway, finished runner-up at Flamboro, won at Sauble Speedway, finished runner-up at Sunset Speedway and recorded a victory at Sauble.
With a comfortable points margin entering the finale, Steckly finished seventh at Delaware to secure his second straight championship. His four wins in a season matched his previous career total of four APC Series victories, while his nine top-tens and 3.11 average finish were also single-season bests for the Milverton, ON driver.
In addition to his APC Series return, Steckly made his ASA STARS National Tour debut in the U.S., finishing second in the points standings to claim Rookie of the Year, while picking up a prestigious win in the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway. He also competed in three NASCAR Canada Series races, which included his first road course podium, coming at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
