The Orangeville, ON veteran comes to the tour as a former Sunset Speedway Limited Late Model champion. Cornelius’ Super Late Model was unveiled at the 1st annual McColl Racing Enterprises open house in December, celebrating its completion as the first Super Late Model chassis to roll out of the lauded London, ON-based facility, but this is our first look at the ride’s brand new vinyl courtesy of FierceWraps.com.
Cornelius, who placed atop Inside Track’s 2011 Short Track Power Rankings, will run the entirety of the 2013 OSCAAR schedule, with support from Halton Crushed Stone, Lee Sand & Gravel, Triplecrete Ltd., Sandbox Tech Childcare, Alliston Transmission, Ed’s Automotive, MacMaster Buick GMC and Hansen Pipe Products.
OSCAAR Super Late Model tour sophomore Rob Poole has sent along images of his 2013 entry. The former 3-time Sunset Speedway Super Stock champion will once again return to fulltime tour competition, after posting a 9th place finish in the overall 2012 point standings.
Poole’s family-owned entry will boast marketing support from Visser Farms U-Pick Strawberries, Progressive Waste Solutions, Multi-Tech Machining & Welding Inc., Alliston Auto Sales & Leasing, AgNav, R.A. We reported in last week that 2012 Sunset Speedway Super Stock champion Randy ‘The Rocket’ Rusnell would return to the Innisfil, ON oval to defend his crown in 2013. The team has now sent along the first glimpses of their entry for the upcoming season. Rusnell’s 2013 season is possible thanks to sponsorship from McCordick Glove and Safety, Spira Fire Protection, Truck Trans Inc., Dream Devon Rex Cats, Marvin Freiburger & Sons Truck Repair, Thor Contracting, Cournoyea’s Poodles, Brant Transmission, Travis Industrial Maintenance Ltd., Holmar Plumbing and Partimer Signs.
After a head-turning performance driving for the Hooker Brothers racing team at New Smyrna’s World Series of Asphalt in February, Pro Late Model front-runner Steve Laking has announced he will once again make a trip south of the border. This time, Laking will return to the famed Hickory Motor Speedway, teaming with his New Smyrna Speedway crew chief Greg Gibson.
Laking will compete with the upstart PASS Pro Late Model tour, as part of the 8th annual Easter Bunny 150 weekend. The Guelph, ON veteran appeared with the PASS Super Limited division at Hickory in 2012, managing an impressive top-5 finish.
