Sauble Speedway veteran Todd Davenport has confirmed he plans to compete at Sunset Speedway on August 4th, as part of the Innisfil, ON oval’s 50-lap Thunder Car Invitational. The 2011 Autumn Colours Classic champion debuted a brand new McColl Racing Enterprises-built chassis at the beginning of the season, August 4th will mark the first event he has raced the car outside of Sauble. Davenport will join Sunset regulars Lane Zardo, Paul Geniole Jr. and Cayden Lapcevich as they look to keep defending Sunset champion Randy ‘The Rocket’ Rusnell from yet another extended-distance feature victory. Sponsorship for Davenport’s Sunset foray will come from Elmer’s Flighting Supply, D&R AG Services and Pringle Electric.
Ontario Legends rookie Donovan Price has sent along on-board footage of his KX96 New County FM sponsored car in last Saturday’s (July 20th) Legends Invitational at Delaware Speedway. The event was won by Nick Ledson, Price went on the finish in the 9th position. The footage can be seen here.
Current Delaware Speedway Late Model point leader Jamie Cox (above, by Thompson Photography) has confirmed that he will compete in Sauble Speedway’s APC Beat The Heat 150 on August 4th. The Dorchester, ON driver has a pair of victories in weekly competition at Delaware this season, but will enter August 4th in search of his first career Sauble victory. The 9-time Open Wheel Modified champion is in the midst of a career year in the Pro Late Model division, and will enter the 150-lap contest as an early favourite to win. Marketing support for ‘The Flamethrower’s 2013 season is provided by APC, Total and London City Chrysler.
We caught up with NASCAR Canadian Tire Series star Jason Hathaway at Sunset Speedway on July 20th. The former Late Model standout was filling the role of crew chief for rising Ltd. Late Model star ‘Livewire’ Nick Goetz. We asked Hathaway about the recent NCATS western swing, including his podium finish at Saskatoon’s Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, as well as the series’ upcoming event at Autodrome St. Eustache on July 27th. Canadian Vintage Modified standout Corey Jones has plans for a busy weekend. The Shakespeare, ON driver will compete with the CVM tour at Delaware Speedway tonight (July 26th), before re-loading their hauler and heading to Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, ON for his first career OSCAAR Super Late Model start on July 27th. Jones purchased a Howe-chassis from OSCAAR veteran Shane Gowan in June, and has spent the past month preparing it to run a trio of events this season. The Guelph, ON driver’s freshman foray into open wheel competition has been wrought with a litany of issues that Tolton has consistently battled through.
