We made the trip to Plattsburgh, NY’s Airborne Speedway on Sunday (July 21st) to catch up with 8-time Kawartha Speedway champion ‘Old School’ Dan McHattie. The Cavan, ON driver spoke with us just prior to qualifying for the ACT Tour event, speaking candidly about his homebuilt racecars, his 2013 program, Peterborough Speedway’s evolving Late Model roster, the ACT Tour and where he sees his program heading in the future. 4-time Don Biederman Memorial winner Jeff Hanley (above, by Pamela Guppy) has confirmed he will be in the field when the OSCAAR Super Late Model tour returns to Sunset Speedway on July 27th. The second-generation virtuoso last appeared with the tour at the 15th annual Biederman Memorial on June 29th & 30th, earning a 12th and 5th place finish in the weekend’s twin-50 lap feature events. Hanley will join defending tour champion Brandon Watson, 2013 Biederman Memorial winner Dwayne Baker, 4-time champion Glenn Watson and fan favourite George Wilson in what promises to be a star-studded field. Lucas Oil TQ Can-Am Midget fan favourite Mack Deman has sent along on-board footage of his most recent feature triumph at Barrie Speedway on July 20th. The Mississauga, ON driver has pulled to 2nd in the club’s point standings, riding an incredible streak of 4 victories in his last 6 starts. Former Canadian Vintage Modified Tour champion Gary Elliott (above, by Thompson Photography) will return to CVM competition this Friday (July 26th) at Delaware Speedway, for the club’s mid-season championship event. ‘The Ironman’ earned a 4th place finish in his lone CVM race to date in 2013, on June 30th at his home track of Sunset. The Elliott Racing Team entry will join Vintage Mod standouts Corey Jones, Jason Keen and Steve Trendell in their only visit to Delaware this season.
OSCAAR Super Late Model veteran Roy Passer will make his first tour start of 2013 this Saturday (July 27th) at Sunset Speedway. The Innisfil, ON driver, who has played the role of car owner this year for OSCAAR rookie ‘The Juice’ JR Fitzpatrick (above, by Pamela Guppy), will climb back behind the wheel of the Jenco Equipment, Doug’s Tree Services & Igor Vujovic Century 21 sponsored ride while Fitzpatrick is pre-occupied with NASCAR Canadian Tire Series competition at Autodrome St. Eustache in Saint-Eustache, Quebec. Fitzpatrick is scheduled to return to the ride when the tour visits Peterborough Speedway on August 3rd.
