@GBMotorplex • Grand Bend, ON- The 2015 GBM Drag racing season kicks off with the Spring Blowout on Canada’s “May 24” weekend (May 15-18) and thanks to our sponsors the 2015 season has added more programs and events.

In 2014 the GBM Thunder series points program consisted of 10 races contested over five weekends with all races counting toward the Championship. For 2015 the program has been expanded to 12 races over six weekends but with the opportunity to drop two races and only count the best 10 of 12.

“This is a very racer friendly format” says Ron Biekx GBM General manager, “as it allows a racer to stay in contention for a Championship if he or she can’t make a weekend or if they suffer breakage on a Saturday and can’t compete Sunday.”

The sponsors who help make the Thunder Junior and Extreme 32 race series possible are:

Performance Unlimited   (TOP ET) – Serving SW Ontario for over 25 years, they specialize in muscle car, hot rod, drag race and speciality custom vehicle parts and accessories

Maple City Tire   (MOD ET) –  A leader in London and area for automotive repairs, and tire and wheel needs. Their dedication to quality service and honesty has helped them build a strong loyal customer base.

Paquette & Assoc. ( Bike/Sled) – a leader in providing Quality & Environmental Management System programs, and Health and Safety solutions across SW Ontario.

Fox’s Auto Sound ( STREET ET & Junior) – for 19 years they have been the “One Stop 12 Volt Shop” providing great Audio products and services to the automotive, marine and RV market in and around London On.

Veloce Italian Kitchen ( Junior age classes & Extreme 32) –  “The Pursuit of Great Pizza & Pasta”  is a new concept offering authentic stone baked pizza and pastas with fresh ingredients in time honoured recipes, in a fast paced setting. Currently in London and Kitchener.

Rocksedge Land Developments –(Extreme 32)  A land development company       based in Amherstburg On.

Leaf Racewear (Junior age classes) – For 28 years a leader in the manufacture and distribution of quality Racing apparel and Safety Equipment worldwide. Based in London ON.

Stack Bros racing (Junior Outlaw Class) – SBR located in Wingham ON is a high quality repair shop and car & parts retailer to the Junior Dragster market in SW Ontario.

Fox’s Auto Sound will also be providing a JUNIOR BOUNTY HUNTER PROGRAM for the age classes at all points events in 2015.  The winners of Saturday’s age class races will have a bounty on their head, the racer who takes them out on Sunday wins the bounty, if that racer doubles up – they get the bounty.

In addition to the above GBM has joined a major contingency program “CONTINGENCY CONNECTION” for the 2015 season. This program is in its 21st year and is limited to a select number of facilities in North America. The program provides the opportunity to win over $50,000 in weekly contingency awards over the season from close to 100 sponsors who support the program. In addition to the weekly program there are some great year end Championship prizes as well.

GBM – Established in 1995 GBM is now one of Canada’s largest Multi Venue Motorsports facilities. The Dragstrip hosts numerous large events including Canada’s oldest and most prestigious National event – the 16th Annual IHRA Mopar Nitrojam Nationals June 26-28, 2015. The Road course has multiple configurations which hosts Motorcycle and Car racing series events plus open lapping days and Karting programs. The high banked ¼ mile paved Oval runs Saturday evenings  throughout the season offering both Junior and Senior race programs. The Moto X track hosts club racing events and practice days providing both a senior and junior circuit. Go to grandbendmotorplex.com for all the details.
