PETERBOROUGH, ON (July 28, 2018)- For the first time since the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals finale, the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series checked-in at Canada’s Toughest 1/3-Mile Paved Oval on Saturday, July 28th to close-out another month of the 2018 regular season.
With the glow of a full moon complimenting the track’s lighting system, a field of 20 teams – with Kevin Foisy and rookie of the year hopeful Shane Pollock on the front row – answered the call for the 25 lap main event. Foisy grabbed the lead early, as Western Region invader Robin Jongen followed in his tire tracks at the drop of the green flag.
Foisy moved out to a commanding lead and began working through slower cars with just eight laps complete, while defending series champion Matt Haufe took third place with nine laps on the board and moved into the runner-up spot three laps later. The show’s first yellow flag for a front stretch issue on lap 15 bunched the field. On the restart, Haufe was glued to Foisy’s back bumper, but a number of late race caution flags couldn’t keep Foisy from the winner’s circle. Adam and Wesley Cuthbertson followed Foisy to the line. Terry McClelland and Mark Griffin completed the top five.
Parker Traves, Pollock, Jongen, Kenny McNichol Jr., Andre Fiorini, Luke Atkins, Dawson Drimmie, Jeff Forsey, Don Arnott, Cole McFadden, Haufe, Adam D’Agostino, Cory Richardson, Hyden Brown and Thomas Dunn competed the finishing order.
Foisy had a pair of heat race wins. Fiorini and Haufe took the others.
All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review as well as post-race safety and technical inspection.
