ONTARIO – At the end of the 2019 racing season, the Ontario asphalt short track operators met, as they usually. And although it had been discussed in the past, several area tracks were determined to have a common set of rules for the Super Stocks. On January 8, it was announced that five ovals have come to an agreement and there will be a common rulebook in place for the 2020 season.
The participating tracks, that will have common rules for the Super Stock division in 2020 are: Flamboro Speedway, Peterborough Speedway, Jukasa Motor Speedway, Sunset Speedway and Full Throttle Motor Speedway. The rules will be posted on each track’s website soon.
According to a press release offered by the group, “It was a complicated process where there was a lot of ‘give and take’ amongst the group and the same will apply to the teams but they have told us that they felt this is important to them and we agree. Ultimately, we want to contain costs and work as a group to see if we can scale back in targeted areas in order to contain and hopefully reduce costs in the long run.”
In addition to news about the Super Stocks, the group said they are still hoping to come up with a common set of rules for the Mini Stocks for 2020, with an eye to agreeing on common rules for Bone Stocks in 2021.
