ST. CATHARINES, ON – On February 1, Franczak Enterprises Canada Ltd. (FEL) announced the launch a new Radical Championship for Canada in 2021. This announcement came on the heels of FEL’s recent announcement to launch a new Canadian sports car championship, as well.
FEL is making a three-year commitment, allowing teams, drivers and sponsors to make investments. Prior to the announcement, FEL organized a ZOOM meeting with Radical owners and drivers, with a total of 46 people on the call.
FEL took the same approached as with the sports car teams and asked for refundable deposits of $1,000. So far, there are 19 paid registration deposits. With somewhere in the neighbourhood of 40 Radical race cars in Ontario and Quebec, FEL expects that number to grow.
“After talks with Robert Burgess from Radical Canada and some of the teams, it became apparent that there was an opportunity to take Radical racing in Canada to the next level. A racing series that offers value to the teams, drivers and sponsors,” said FEL President Chris Bye.
“With decades of experience as a driver, team owner and sponsor, I think FEL is uniquely positioned to raise the bar and give the Radical teams the structure they have been looking for. Initial conversations with teams and sponsors have been very encouraging and we are looking forward to getting to work on this series,” Bye said.
A tentative series schedule will be released in the next few weeks.
