May 11, 2014 – After starting the 2014 season with a fifth place finish at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park a couple weeks ago, Dylan Evoy and the Evoy Racing team were looking to put their hard work to the test right at home, as Brockville Speedway opened with a special 40 lap main event as part of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series.
Ogilvie’s Auto is a long-time sponsor of Evoy Racing, a win on their night would be a great way to start the season.
Time trials set the field for qualifying heat races, and Evoy set the third fastest speed in his group, placing him on the inside of row two to start the qualifier.
After maintaining that third position throughout the race, Dylan returned to the pit area for some adjustments before going back out for the 40 lap feature later in the evening. Starting eighth on the grid, Evoy went to work and by the time the first caution was displayed on lap nine, he was already up to fourth place.
Several cautions slowed the pace over the next several laps, but Evoy continued to move forward and was up to second as they reached lap 14. At the halfway point, Evoy continued to run in second place as they diced through lapped traffic, and with 28 laps showing on the lap counter, Evoy used that traffic to his advantage, taking the lead with 12 laps remaining. Dylan set the pace for the remainder of the event, picking up his first win of the 2014 season.
“The car was really good tonight. It is great to get back here to Brockville and get a win on Ogilvie’s night here at the track”, says Evoy. “Hopefully we can continue to run well here throughout the season”.
This coming week, Evoy will make his 2014 debut at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York on Friday night, and will be back at Brockville Speedway next Saturday night for another 40 lap feature as the St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman Series invades the BOS.
The Evoy Racing team would not be possible without assistance from great companies such as Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Service, Plooy’s Plumbing and Heating, 1000 Islands RV Centre, Napa Auto Parts Universal Supply Group, Genesis Racing Shocks, Upper Canada Electrical, RVB Machine Products, Fireball Performance Automatics, MIE Autobody and Collision, Thousand Islands Concrete, Linde, Canadian Tire, Wurth and NGK Spark Plugs. A special thanks also goes out to ‘Stick’ and ‘Big Block’ for their help and support.
